This term, first coined by MIT Boston in one of its studies, defines an innovative energy-saving way of heating spaces through the use of highly localised and dynamically controlled heating.

Local Warming means in fact heating without waste, using infrared technology, only in those areas where people are present without spreading the heat randomly into the air.

Large amounts of energy are wasted when heating, for example, areas without people in partially occupied buildings or empty spaces at night. Spaces that are heated simply because they exist and not out of real need.

Infrared technology, through the creation of a ‘heat bubble’, makes it possible to heat a specific area where people are present only when necessary and only for as long as necessary, without air movement due to aerothermal systems and the possible opening of doors and windows. Most importantly, with the use of infrared technology, no CO2 is produced.

A conscious choice in the name of environmental sustainability with zero energy waste and no CO2 production.

Just like the sun: the heat is immediate and only directed at the people to be heated.

Tactical warming

A heating system that responds to current climatic changes: it is only used when needed, for as long as necessary and only in the presence of people, just like light.

Energy saving

Compared to thermo-convective or other traditional systems, no pre-heating phase is required to heat the entire air volume of a room. Only individual zones are heated for as long as necessary, using infrared technology. This drastically reduces the energy consumption associated with the heating system.

Less pollution

By heating with less energy consumption and without waste, the ecological impact is significantly reduced, contributing to greater environmental sustainability.

Use of energy from renewable sources

Possibility of further reducing the ecological impact of the heating system by using energy from renewable sources, or through integration with an existing photovoltaic system.

Does not burn oxygen – no CO2

Not all infrared rays are the same. Within the electromagnetic spectrum that identifies infrared rays, there are in fact different wavelengths:

  • SHORT waves
  • MEDIUM waves
  • LONG waves

All devices are equipped with special InfraCalor® bulbs made for specific requirements. The bulbs for use outdoors in areas exposed to the weather (IPX5) are a Star Progetti patent.
The lifespan of InfraCalor® bulbs is very long, approximately 7000 hours, depending on the usage characteristics.
All bulbs are easily replaceable.

The shape of the reflector and the material used, a special aluminium alloy, optimise the refraction of infrared rays and guarantee maximum heat efficiency.

The concentration of infrared rays, being uniform and not ‘leopard-spot’, allows the diffusion of a consistent and dispersion-free heat beam.

This means optimising the transformation of energy into heat.
